One of the most fun things to me about being at Rancho La Puerta is the anticipation of what’s for lunch. I know for sure it’s going to be good, but each day is a little surprise. Except for Wednesdays when we have pizza. In that case, I like knowing what’s for lunch. However on the other days, it could be anything!
This particular meal I photographed stood out to me. First of all before I even took a bite, I knew I had to get some photos of it. The color of the tray perfectly matched the soup and the pepper on top of the frittata. If you’re ever having lunch at the Ranch and you see a girl whip out her camera to start taking photos of food, well…that’s me. It must look pretty funny, but honestly, there’s probably nothing more that I love taking photos of.
Of course, the whole time I’m taking photos I’m getting more and more hungry. I could not wait to start eating! Finally the perfectionist side of me has had enough and allows me to sit down and eat a meal like normal person. I start with the soup. I always start with the soup, don’t ask me why. This one I believe was a red pepper soup. The soups at the Ranch are my favorite…
I love mushrooms and the Ranch has the best grilled or sautéed mushrooms…actually I don’t know how they prepare them, but they are so juicy and delicious. I’m always excited when I see them waiting for me in the toppings section. Speaking of toppings, isn’t great when there’s some sort of whole grain or bean dish there that you’ve never seen before? Honestly, it’s the best!
So to have in one meal the mushrooms, rice, salad, the frittata and the soup made this one very special lunch. Hope you enjoy the photos!
