HANDS – ON COOKING CLASS WITH VISITING CHEF NANI STEELE
I had met Nani the first time I came to The Ranch about a year ago. Flash forward and I’m taking her cooking class at La Cocina Que Canta. The menu was filled with savory summer dishes as well as some that were slightly sweet, my favorite being the Strawberry Risotto. To me, there’s no more perfect time to be at the organic farm that surrounds La Cocina Que Canta than during the summer when the sky is blue, the air is warm and there is an abundance of fresh veggies ready to be picked and eaten. This day was exactly like that.
By now I have had many cooking classes under my belt and I have to say, what really struck me about Nani’s presence is that she’s a true chef. She cares about the food so much, from where it comes from and how it tastes to creating a beautiful presentation. Nani truly looks at cooking as an art form. It’s easy to tell by looking at her two gorgeous books, Plum Gorgeous and My Nepenthe. We are so excited to have Nani back for our culinary week, La Fiesta De La Cocina Que Canta this September! In the meantime, enjoy the photos and this special recipe from the class, Strawberry Summer Risotto.
