Everything—and everyone—sparkles from a mountaintop at sunrise. Hikers, warmed by the day’s first rays, crest Pilgrim Way trail and look over a sea of mountain lilac. Experiences like this are a daily part of our guided hikes—from a strolling meadow walk to a demanding 11-mile trek.

And that’s just the beginning. As each of your balanced fitness days progresses, there is much to try, whether for the first time or to increase your proficiency. We offer skilled instruction in many techniques and methods, ancient and modern. All ages and abilities relax into lighthearted camaraderie as new stamina and knowledge emerges. Even the journey back and forth to your casita has become a nature-lover’s peak experience: hummingbirds and butterflies flit across the paths, and views of rugged Mt. Kuchumaa open through the trees.

In the end, it is the totality of the Ranch that continues to amaze and inspire me. It is an example of what it is talking about…When I spend a week at the Ranch, I have an actual body-mind experience of health, energy, balance, and rest; these words, so glibly used in the spa world, take on tangible, visceral meaning. Plan each day to be your personal symphony of activity and relaxation: hourly fitness classes balance with spa treatments and meals…or a swing in one of our many hammocks. Our expert fitness staff in residence is always on hand to provide a full program during any and every week.

Guest fitness experts join us each week

As an adjunct to our staff’s talents, we invite well-known guest instructors for many “specialty weeks” that have a theme —such as yoga, Pilates, hiking, or meditation.

Learn a new skill and unlock your creativity

Arts and crafts classes, and afternoon writing and other workshops, round out the learning experience.

Relax at our evening lectures and entertainment

In the evenings over the course of each week, you’ll choose between enjoying a top entertainer’s performance, dancing to a live band, old-fashioned bingo night, an expert’s thought-provoking lecture, or a nightly movie.
