Gentle Yoga | Veera Sanjana, M.S., M.S.W

Veera Sanjana approaches her yoga practice with gratitude, reverence and love. Veera is a certified Hatha Yoga teacher and her teaching style is best described as 'meditation in motion'. Veera's unique yoga teaching style stresses a strong fluid practice with emphasis on mind, body and breath connections to direct our attention inwards. She sets a rhythm that allows her students to explore their own inner world.

Veera was born in India and was schooled in the ancient yoga traditions from a very early age. Veera is able to bring alive the essence of ancient wisdom teachings for modern seekers, in a way that allows students to connect deeply with their own authentic power and spirit.

In her classes, she skillfully weaves together the teachings and time tested practices of Hatha Yoga, Ayurveda and Vipassana Meditation to create a dynamic and integrated practice, that help us lead healthy, happy and effective lives. Each class is unique, based on a theme related to body, mind and spirit.

Under the guidance and grace of her teachers, Veera has taught many types of yoga, including gentle yoga, prenatal, postnatal, restorative, yin yoga, yoga for kids, yoga for seniors and therapeutic yoga. Veera's passion and visionary presentations grow out of her extensive experience as a instructor of Yoga, Meditation, Compassionate Touch, Ayurvedic Healing, Eastern Dance Therapy, Herbs and Nutrition. From her home base in California, she enjoys teaching classes, seminars, writing for magazines. She travels often and offers workshops and retreats that integrate meditation, yoga wisdom, ayurveda and spiritual life-skills.

Suzanne Ciani is a composer, recording artist, and pioneer in the field of electronic music and sound design. She is best loved for her fifteen albums of original music which feature her performances in a broad array of expressions: pure electronic, solo piano, piano with orchestra, and piano with jazz ensemble. Her music, renowned for its romantic, healing, and aesthetic qualities, has found a rapidly growing international audience, and her performances include numerous benefits for humanitarian causes.

Currently Ciani resides in Northern California where, in 1995, she established her own record label, Seventh Wave. Ciani felt the need to own and control her own creative work. "In many ways, this label represents the culmination of the long journey of my evolution as a recording artist," says Ciani. In the eighties and early nineties, in order to finance her recording projects, Ciani brought her expertise to Madison Avenue. Her New York-based commercial production company, Ciani-Musica, Inc., was the leader in the field of sound design and TV spot scoring, creating award-winning music for a host of high profile Fortune 500 clients, including Coca-Cola, Merrill Lynch, A T & T and General Electric. Additionally, Ciani has scored the Lily Tomlin feature 'The Incredible Shrinking Woman,' and 'Mother Teresa', as well as scoring for the TV daytime serial 'One Life to Live'. In the early nineties Ciani re-located to northern California to concentrate on her artistic career from her sea-side studio. She has toured throughout the United States, Italy, Spain, and Asia. Her many recognitions include five Grammy nominations for Best New Age Album, an INDIE award for Best New Age Album, numerous Clios, a Golden Globe, and Keyboard Magazine's "New Age Keyboardist of the Year." Ciani is a graduate of Wellesley College and holds a Masters in Music.

Drawing is observing and translating what you see to paper. This is a mechanical skill which involves learning how to observe and eye hand coordination. Mastery can be achieved by anyone even if you think you cannot draw or have no "talent".

Join Sigrid Burton in a series of drawing workshops and create a realistic self portrait. Learn approaches, techniques and other skills to help you draw what you see and express yourself creatively as an artist.

Please come if you love to draw or if you would like to draw (but think you can’t). The workshop will be conducted over four days. Each day will have a different exercise and focus designed to enhance your skills.

Life in India is a feast for the senses and especially our eyes. Everywhere we look there is color and color has meaning in everything from daily life to esoteric ritual. Join Sigrid Burton for a travelogue of India that investigates what color means and how it is used in various aspects of Indian culture.

Sigrid Burton is a painter with special background in South Asian art and culture. She lives and works in New York City. She has a distinguished exhibition record including solo exhibitions in major cities throughout the United States. She was a recipient in 1994-1995 of an Indo-American Fellowship to investigate the meaning and use of color in traditional India art forms and has traveled extensively throughout Asia. Her work is in numerous private, corporate and public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
