Rancho La Puerta initiated the “Fitness Week”—different classes (that you choose) every hour on the hour. We provide you with 4 to 10 options every hour during a typical day, which can begin as early as 6:00 a.m. with a guided hike, and end at 5:00 p.m. with a labyrinth walk. (Our evening entertainment and lecture series offers several options each night at 8:00 p.m. after dinner.)
This variety of fitness classes and activities is unparalleled in the spa/fitness resort world. All your favorites are here: just click on the class links above to read descriptions. When you make a reservation, you receive a sample schedule that helps you plan your day in advance—look it over while you request certain spa treatments so that you don’t miss a favorite fitness class because you’re getting a facial. You can preview that sample schedule here.
Many guests plan each day much as they might a university schedule-- a “university of lifelong learning!” You don’t have to sign up for most fitness classes or activities; just show up about 10 minutes early so that you’re ready to go on the hour.
The essence of our program is timeless: a balance of fitness and renewal. A hammock is as important as an exercise mat, so please consider alternating classes that are vigorous workouts (i.e. dance, strength training, circuit training) with more restful activities, such as stretch, meditation, or Healthy Breathing. Whatever your level of fitness, whatever your interest, you will find a good fit here.
Our friendly fitness staff members are certified experts with years of experience. They are the best in the business. Many have chosen to work at the Ranch after years of owning their own successful exercise studios and/or working at the finest health clubs. Each week also includes a guest instructor or two that gives your week added focus—such as placing more emphasis on yoga or Pilates via their classes in addition to our staff’s.
Our Fitness Concierge
A fitness staff member acts as your concierge when they tour the dining room and patios during lunch to answer your fitness questions and provide expert help in charting a week-long personal program. You will also learn more about your week’s special offerings and unique schedule during a Guest Reception early in the week. Be sure to take the Ranch Orientation & Tour if you’re a new guest, or haven’t been at the Ranch in a few years.
