Telling Your Stories with Stop Motion Photography
Join photographer Lynne Harty as she shows you ways to use still photography to tell a story by
creating lively stop motion videos, like the one she created for Rancho La Puerta (on the Ranch's home page at www.rancholapuerta.com). She will talk about planning the shoot, setting your intention, the value of being open to spontaneous events, and connecting the dots to tell the story in 4 minutes or less.
Photography: People in Nature
Join photographer Lynne Harty as she shows examples of her portraits, illustrating the importance of composition and light, communicating with your subject, and point of view. We will squeeze in time to shoot as well so bring your camera.
Photography: Let’s Talk About Light
Photo walk and demonstration. Wear walking shoes and bring your camera. Join photographer Lynne Harty as she gives a demonstration of the right and wrong way to photograph a subject outside. She will discuss the best time of day to shoot, as well as how to overcome the challenges of shooting in less than ideal lighting conditions. We will make time to photograph each other as well as Lynne shows the class her favorite settings in the Ranch for portraits.
Photography: Sunrise Hike
Wear hiking shoes and bring your camera. Join Lynne Harty as we take an easy hike on the Quail trail, photographing the views, flora and each other in the early morning light. Bring your camera. Be prepared to walk briskly to catch the light.
Lynne Harty loves her work and that love is evident in her photos of people, places and objects as well as in her quirky, energetic stop motion videos (www.lynneharty.com). Lynne lives in the mountains of Asheville, NC, where she shoots for commercial clients and runs her "Working Girls Studio and Gallery" downtown. Lynne has been teaching photography at the Ranch for years and loves helping her "students” take better photos, no matter their preferred subject matter. You can see the video she made for the Ranch at www.rancholapuerta.com on the home page. She hopes to inspire you to work on your own story telling during your stay at Rancho La Puerta.
