How many times in your life have you wished you were someone else? Someone who had more money, or better opportunities or, perhaps, better looks? None of us are immune to these kinds of feelings.
There are periods in our lives when we may not embrace who we are. One that comes to mind is that very awkward period called adolescence. I remember never feeling up to par - like I was always a step behind. Those were hard years but I’m glad I experienced them because they made me who I am today. Looking back, I realize that the challenges I faced taught me important lessons and made me a stronger person.
It has taken some time, but I now try to completely accept myself and my individuality. Unlike my adolescent self, I’ve become better at embracing my own unique qualities. The end result is that I am much more grateful for each moment and view my unique journey as a privilege.
