Present Moment Awareness in Everyday Life

Week of February 23, 2019

Present Moment Awareness in Everyday Life.

Mindfulness is one of the most valuable tools that can be used in today’s hectic world, particularly in our fast-paced culture. I offer participants a unique opportunity to positively affect their mindset and life with mindfulness techniques. Essentially, mindfulness provides a tool to deal with the realistic pressures of today’s world- whether that be caring for an elderly loved one, supporting a stressed-out colleague or meeting an emotional friend.  As we know, we are expected to deal with these stressful situations with grace. Through demonstration and experiential exercises, you will learn powerful techniques that can easily be integrated into your life.

  • Learn how to identify ways in which you avoid or cut yourself off from your emotional experience and “flow”.
  • Learn simple strategies you can use to regulate anxiety and distress and/or navigate emotional experiences.
  • Learn techniques to increase emotional presence, creativity, engagement, and purpose in your life.

Sit Now- Don’t do Anything.

Learning how to just “be” is a struggle for many who are athletic, have busy minds, ADHD or are simply addicted to being productive by checking off out to do list.  Often, we can convince ourselves that sitting or practicing mindfulness meditation is a waste of time during our day when there are so many things to get done. Let playfulness find its way into your “sit” of the day.  This interactive session is filled with effective techniques, specific strategies and step-by-step guidance on how to make the power of mindfulness practical and accessible. Learn how to bring kindness and curiosity to the basics as you learn techniques of breath and posture to begin or refresh your meditation practice. Walk away with the latest tools and tricks for creating and sustaining a mindfulness practice that you can bring home with you from The Ranch.

The Path to Self-Love & Self-Compassion.

Many of us spend a lifetime criticizing ourselves over mistakes and failures, which can lead to anxiety, fear, depression or self-loathing. Self-love and compassion can be the antidote to the inner critic by opening the heart. This presentation teaches informal and formal practices to strengthen the habit of responding mindfully and compassionately to emotional distress. Experience these transformative practices for treating yourself with kindness, honesty and love. Recognize your experience as part of a larger human experience, not isolating or abnormal to create a healthier environment, and foster deeper connection to others.  Learn the three components of self-compassion to cultivate these essential qualities.

  • Self-Kindness
  • Common humanity
  • Mindfulness
